The original Kincaid Ranch is over 170 acres of rolling hills and pastures--a great place for horses and cattle.  There is electricity available on site, although the original 1870 ranch house uses solar and gas with a backup generator and is off the grid. This 19h century home has 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and screened porches and is perhaps the oldest house on Mt. Hamilton.  The outdoor spiral stairway leads to a spacious attic with paneling and a deck.  Phone hookups are also available on site.  The 5000 gallon water tank is  spring fed.  The property actually has five springs, a watershed, and a fresh water pond.  There is an old orchard, multiple supplemental structures, and abundant wild life. One of the structures is a small brick distillery building preserved from the prohibition era.  Another is a large outdoor platform for wildlife observation, musical gatherings or sleeping under the stars.  Santa Clara County maintains a paved road through the property with access to the gate.  In the past Kincaid Ranch has been used as an old time rest stop, a mountain inn, a retreat center, a farm and cattle ranch, a Native American site, and even a bootleg distillery.  Kincaid Ranch is an ideal retreat from an urban environment to a world of nature, beauty and outstanding views, including canyons, mountain ridges, streams, and Lick Observatory.  Come enjoy this naturally beautiful environment which is only 45 minutes from San Jose, and own a part of historic California.
